September 2014

In September, our church hosted The Wrights, a family-based music ministry out of Topeka, Kansas, in our worship service.  We are always blessed when this family comes to share in worship and praise with us.

We also collected apples and distributed them along with bottles of water and prayer bookmarks to the teachers and administrators of Cooper Elementary School.  This is one way we reach out in love to our local school.

We also gave out over 200 bottles of water at the local Senior Health fair held at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista.  We offered a free bottle of water, a devotional and also had many tracts available for people to take home with them.  This is an example of how we spread the seeds of God’s Word all over the area.

We held our first “Annual All-Church Birthday Picnic” at Tanyard Creek Park.  It was a great time to celebrate the life God has given us all and to enjoy a picnic and have some fun together.

FHC closed the month out by recognizing our teachers on Sunday, Sept. 28th, in our worship service.  We value our teachers and appreciate all their hard work and devotion to teaching and studying God’s Word.

April and May 2014

In April, we celebrated our 25th church anniversary on Palm Sunday!  It was a glorious day.  Many old friends that have moved away joined us and other new friends were present as well.  We all enjoyed a delicious meal and a program that included thoughts shared by two of our former pastors following our Worship Service.  Our Central Region Exec. Director, Dr. John Williams, was also present and presented us with a lovely framed certificate.  We presented a quilt which was made by Judy Beaman of fabric from Africa in honor and memory of Murray and Marge Sharp who were missionaries to the Congo for over 30 years.  We thanked God for His faithful provision through the years and gave something back by purchasing 30 bibles that will be given to Murrow Indian Children’s Home in Oklahoma.

In May, we reached out to people in two different community events.  The first was the Cooper Elementary School Spring Carnival.  Once again, our Duck Pond was a hit with the kids and we gave out over 100 bottles of water, a ton of smiles and church flyers to the parents who were there.  The second event was the Bella Vista Senior Services Expo at Riordan Hall.  Again, we gave out free bottles of water, smiles, church flyers and free devotionals to those who wanted one.  Our “Water Ministry” volunteers have really done a great job this past month!  We recognized our mothers, our graduates and remembered our veterans in our worship service on Memorial Day in May.

October 2013

Forest Hills offered a very special service on Sunday, Oct. 13th, in remembrance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We called it “Colors of Cancer”.  Everyone received a uniquely-made bookmark.  There was a time of remembrance for those who lost their battles with cancer.  We also honored and prayed over those who are still battling cancer of any kind.  We also gave thanks for the many in our own congregation who are survivors of cancer.  It was a very special Sunday service.

Our church also worked at Helping Hands in Bentonville this month as an outreach to the community.

For fun, we had our fall “Craftastic” fellowship gathering.  People brought in samples of the crafts that they made.  We were pleased and surprised by what our talented people are gifted at!  Fun time by all.
